I have always had a love for photography. Way back in the days of elementary school, a disposable camera in hand - snapping random shots of the grass, rocks and all other things that captivate a child of the age of 5. Then came the what-seemed-like-forever anticipation of receiving the developed film and seeing what would be on each piece of paper. It almost seemed magical. Okay, even today, I admit - it still does. With the support of my husband, I went pro in 2007 and never looked back. In September, 2010, he joined me at the studio as a second full-time photographer. My style is fun, natural, modern, contemporary and a bit colorful! I love jeans, simple dresses, barefeet and the outdoors! I giggle, make faces, act silly, roll around on the floor, lay on my belly in the grass and share candy breaks with my little clients, doing whatever it takes to capture a TRUE smile, serious eyes, the personality. I like to keep things simple, natural, and fun. I love interacting with children. They can be - okay, they ALWAYS ARE - unpredictable. That's what I love about doing children and family sessions. You NEVER know what to expect, how to plan, what's going to come out of their mouth, or go into their mouth! They can be so inquisitive, or active, or shy - no two children that I've met have been the same. Each child is unique in SO many ways. I always allow them extra time during sessions to get used to the studio and camera, be themselves and have fun.
My amazing husband and
partner-in-crime, Jonathan, captures the session as it unfolds in a
documentary fashion - candid, natural, snapping away while no one is
paying attention to him or noticing that he's taken out a second
camera. He’s mainly known as the poser and the “candy guy”, but
he's also known as the sun-blocker, the doggie-treat-man, the
drool-wiper, the battery-switcher, the light-scrimmer, the
bunny-or-goat-wrangler, the baby-propper, the hair-fixer, the
binkie-stealer, the dog-chaser, the toy-squeaker, the prop-lugger, the
clothes-straightener, and the silly guy with the squawking rubber
chicken who makes even the adults crack a smile! |

My ultimate goal is to provide my clients with images that capture how they feel and who they are - not just what they look like. When I am going over proofs with my client and I hear, “That is SO her,” or “I love it when he makes that face,” and I see my client’s expression, I know I have succeeded in accomplishing what I strive to create. I want to keep things personal for my clients - you should have a wonderful experience and be treated like a PERSON, not just another number waiting in line. Photography is a personal art - you're sharing a piece of your lives with your photographer and trusting them to document your memories! . |

Our kid-friendly studio is located a short, ten minute drive North of Winston-Salem, in our 1920’s bungalow-style home. We have a large entry room boutique which serves as both our waiting area and our client gallery, with unique and contemporary gifts and colorful displays of our custom framing, fine art canvases and other goodies. French doors open up to my actual camera room, which has windows on two walls that are perfect for natural light portraiture, and plenty of room to set up lighting and props for our themed fairytale sets. We also have a private area for changing, quiet feeding time, and clients are more than welcome to use our kitchen to heat up a bottle. Our large backyard almost always has something in bloom (except winter!), and a beautiful backdrop of Sauratown Mountain in the distance.
I LOVE to add texture and COLOR to my portraits! We have tons of hand-picked props, including one-of-a-kind antiquities, vintage clothing and custom made tutus, but please, feel free to bring your own!
What is a boutique photography studio?
The simplest way to describe it is that I don't have thousands of
clients that I don't know anything about or that I bring into my studio,
photograph and send on their way. A boutique photography
studio has a smaller client base, spending much more time working with
each client (from the initial consultation, throughout the session and beyond delivery of the final order) and specializes in custom
photography, not "cookie-cutter photography". We are concerned with and pay lots
of attention to detail, not only with the quality of your portraits but
with everything, including our packaging. I strive to
build relationships with each and every one of my clients to keep
relationships personal, while at the same time keeping ideas fresh and
products fun. I
will take the time to get to know you and your children, ask questions to
learn about you during our session, and interact with you so that I can
capture the REAL you.
All sessions and consultations (including
ordering and pick-up) are by appointment only, so we can personally
meet with you to address your family’s individual needs. Our “no
walk-in” policy allows us to give your family our undivided attention
without any distractions.
I
am truly delighted that you have chosen to learn more about me and my studio,
and I look forward to working with you and your little birdies.
